Malaysia’s Agroz Details Use of SANANBIO RADIX in Indoor Farming Solutions

A September 2023 industry report says Malaysian agritech firm Agroz had already been using SANANBIO RADIX modules in its indoor farms while discussing further expansion plans near Kuala Lumpur.

Malaysian controlled-environment agriculture company Agroz described its use of SANANBIO RADIX modules in a VerticalFarmDaily interview published on September 7, 2023. The report is evidence of an actual technology application and integration relationship, while several additional farms discussed at the time were still plans rather than completed installations.

RADIX as part of an integrated farming solution

According to the industry interview, Agroz incorporated SANANBIO RADIX hydroponic modules into its controlled-environment farms alongside its own IoT sensing, data analytics, nutrient-management, environmental control and automation technologies. The report said Agroz had been using the modules within its indoor farms for several years.

Agroz CEO Gerard Lim discussed crop diversification beyond leafy greens to include herbs and potential fruiting crops such as chilies, cucumbers and cherry tomatoes. The company also described an operating model in which it could design, build, supply and manage farms for project partners, combining grow-rack equipment with software and agronomy services.

Keep the 2023 expansion plans in context

The same interview outlined intentions to develop additional sites in southern Kuala Lumpur. At the time of reporting, the precise farm sizes had not yet been fixed. This article does not assume those planned facilities subsequently opened or that any proposed yield or commercial target was achieved.

SANANBIO's role in the reported operation was as a supplier of RADIX growing technology, not necessarily the sole designer or operator of Agroz farms. The case demonstrates how a local integrator can combine SANANBIO cultivation modules with its own system architecture.
