SANANBIO Hydroponic Modules Used in Chinese Cabbage Daily Light Integral Research

A peer-reviewed study in Scientia Horticulturae used SANANBIO six-layer hydroponic modules to examine daily light integral and photosynthetic performance in flowering Chinese cabbage.

A research paper published in Scientia Horticulturae (Volume 326, dated February 15, 2024) investigated how daily light integral (DLI), photoperiod and light intensity influence flowering Chinese cabbage grown in a controlled plant factory. The methods section specifically identifies two six-layer vertical deep-flow hydroponic systems, including seedling and cultivation modules, made by SANANBIO in Xiamen, China.

The researchers compared 16-hour photoperiods with 24-hour continuous lighting at different photon flux densities, resulting in four DLI conditions ranging from 11.52 to 25.92 mol m−2 day−1. The study found that greater DLI promoted dry matter accumulation and photosynthetic capacity in the tested crop. However, at an equivalent DLI, extending the photoperiod did not necessarily further increase photosynthetic capacity. The authors examined leaf anatomy, nitrogen allocation and photosynthetic physiology to explain these effects.

The paper documents SANANBIO cultivation modules as research equipment. It does not establish that SANANBIO designed the experiment or that the measured plant responses are guaranteed commercial performance characteristics of its systems.
