Nature Communications Study Identified SANANBIO LEDs in Rice UV-B Research

A 2024 Nature Communications paper from Xiamen University reported using SANANBIO LEDs as a white-light source during experiments on rice UV-B photoreceptors.

According to a Nature Communications paper published on July 30, 2024, scientists at Xiamen University studied how rice senses ultraviolet-B light through two photoreceptors, OsUVR8a and OsUVR8b. Their experiments explored changes in seedling development and responses to ultraviolet stress under different light conditions.

The methods section identifies LEDs supplied by SANANBIO, China, as the white-light source for part of the rice seedling growth protocol. Researchers grew seedlings under a defined short-day schedule, comparing white-light-only conditions with conditions that included supplementary UV-B irradiation. This is a documented use of SANANBIO lighting equipment in a plant-biology laboratory rather than an example of a commercial vertical farm.

The scientific findings relate to rice photoreceptor biology and the research team’s experiments. They do not constitute an independent performance test of SANANBIO lights or establish that SANANBIO developed the paper’s genetic discoveries. For research buyers, however, the methods provide a traceable reference for how plant-growth LEDs were incorporated into a controlled lighting protocol.
