2022 Plant Factory Study Used SANANBIO Hydroponic Modules to Investigate Leaf Burn
A 2022 PeerJ study at South China Agricultural University documented SANANBIO multilayer hydroponic modules in research on leaf burn and humidity management in flowering Chinese cabbage.
According to a study published in PeerJ on November 8, 2022, researchers at South China Agricultural University investigated a leaf injury problem observed in vegetables grown inside a closed plant factory. Their experimental facility used seedling and cultivation modules supplied by SANANBIO in Xiamen, China. The publication described both modules as multilayer deep-flow hydroponic systems.
The researchers first assessed 30 vegetable crop types and observed differing degrees of leaf margin injury in several crops. They then examined how light intensity, photoperiod and canopy humidity influenced two flowering Chinese cabbage cultivars. In their controlled experiments, raising canopy relative humidity to around 90% suppressed the specific leaf-burn symptoms they observed, compared with lower-humidity conditions.
These findings concern crop physiology and the controlled conditions tested by the university team. They should not be interpreted as proof that a particular SANANBIO system automatically prevents leaf injury in all crops. For readers planning multilayer farms, the paper offers a documented example of SANANBIO hardware used in an academic environment-management study.
