SANANBIO Detailed UPLIFT 3.0 Automated Plant-Factory Trial in 2022
An August 2022 SANANBIO technical update described UPLIFT 3.0 at trial-operation stage, with high-bay crop handling and internal efficiency comparisons.
SANANBIO published a technical update on August 31, 2022 describing its third-generation UPLIFT automated vertical-farming system. According to the company, UPLIFT 3.0 had entered trial operation after several years of development and testing. The statement should be read as a 2022 technology-stage announcement, not a claim that the specific trial system remains operational today.
The design combines multi-tier growing racks with mechanized crop transport and handling. The company lists robotic handling, shuttle transport and stacker equipment among the automation elements intended for seeding, transplanting, harvesting, cleaning and related workflows. Nutrient circulation and LED horticultural lighting are integrated into the cultivation infrastructure, together with monitoring and control of temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide, EC and pH.
SANANBIO supplied illustrative scale and performance figures. Its article described an example 5,000-square-meter system design with up to 20 cultivation levels and a projected daily leafy-vegetable output of six to eight tonnes. It also reported internal UPLIFT 3.0 comparisons showing approximately 40% less equipment footprint and 25% greater operational efficiency under the stated comparison conditions. These are manufacturer-supplied design and trial figures; they are not independently audited production results from a named completed farm.
The 2022 update is most relevant as a milestone in automated plant-factory engineering, distinct from earlier introductions of the UPLIFT platform. Key engineering questions remain system utilization, maintenance cost, energy demand and realized commercial crop throughput. Source: SANANBIO Chinese technical story, August 31, 2022.
