University of Turin Basil Study Used SANANBIO RADIX and Vegmax LEDs

A peer-reviewed University of Turin study used a four-layer SANANBIO RADIX system and Vegmax LED lighting to investigate selenium biofortification in basil.

According to a study published in Agronomy on October 10, 2025, a research team associated with the University of Turin examined foliar selenium treatments in two basil cultivars grown under fully controlled conditions. The cultivation experiments took place in September and October 2023 in Grugliasco, Italy.

The methods identify a four-layer RADIX growing module supplied by Fujian Sananbio Technology Co., Ltd., fitted with SANANBIO Vegmax LED lighting. The authors reported a cultivation area of approximately 4.2 square meters and described the light spectrum, photoperiod, hydroponic setup, and monitoring conditions used in the tests. A separate nutrient controller from Nido Srl was also part of the experimental system.

The paper investigated the effect of applying different doses of sodium selenate to basil. Its findings concern plant responses under the reported research conditions, not a commercial production claim for RADIX. The presence of SANANBIO equipment is independently documented in the experimental methods; the research was carried out by the authors and should be attributed accordingly.
