Choosing LED Grow Lights for an Indoor Farm or Greenhouse
Start by describing where the lights will be used. Lighting an indoor growing area and supplementing daylight in a greenhouse are different design tasks. The equipment proposal should match the crop, layout and operating conditions.
Define the application
Provide the crop, cultivation area, rack or bench dimensions, mounting height and available electrical supply. For a greenhouse project, explain how the proposed lighting will work alongside daylight. For multi-layer cultivation, identify clearance and access constraints on each level.
Ask for measurements with their conditions
Ask what the quoted light-output and distribution measurements represent, how they were measured and at what mounting height. Request a layout appropriate to your growing area. Do not compare fixtures using input wattage alone or assume that a measurement taken under one arrangement describes every installation.
Review installation and operation
Clarify mounting hardware, drivers, wiring, controls, cleaning access and replacement arrangements. Ask the supplier to explain environmental limits and compatibility with the proposed electrical and control systems. Confirm the documentation required for your destination market rather than assuming that every fixture has the same approvals.
Request a project-specific proposal
Send the crop and layout information with photographs or drawings of the intended installation area. Ask for a fixture schedule, proposed placement, control approach, supporting specifications and a clear quotation scope. Keep unverified yield or energy-saving claims out of the comparison.
