Planning a Commercial Vertical Farm: A Buyer Checklist
A useful equipment discussion starts with your crop plan and operating constraints. A photograph or rack count alone cannot establish a farm's output, operating cost or commercial feasibility.
Start with the crop and production plan
List the crops you intend to grow, your target weekly output and the product format your buyers require. Separate propagation, growing, harvesting and packing requirements. Ask the supplier which parts of the proposed configuration have been evaluated for your crop; avoid assuming that results for one crop transfer to another.
Check the site before selecting equipment
Prepare a floor plan with usable dimensions, ceiling height, access doors and loading routes. Record the available electricity supply, water source, drainage and environmental-control arrangements. Confirm responsibility for electrical work, ventilation, cooling, plumbing and installation rather than assuming that every item is included in an equipment quotation.
Compare configurations and the operating workflow
Review access to plants, cleaning, maintenance and movement between nursery and growing areas. Ask for a layout and a written scope identifying what is included, what is optional and what must be provided locally. Keep crop-specific performance assumptions separate from confirmed equipment specifications.
Prepare your supplier brief
Include your crop list, intended output, site dimensions, destination, preferred schedule and any constraints. Request the proposed equipment list, utility requirements, installation scope, training arrangements and supporting technical documents. Compare quotations against the same brief.

Discuss your project requirements
This checklist supports an initial equipment discussion. Final engineering, operating costs and crop performance require project-specific assessment.
