Tokyo PLANTX Tests Fully Sealed Modular Growing Units
An industry case from Japan examining PLANTX: pilot opened as reported by VerticalFarmDaily / Japan Times. No SANANBIO supplier relationship is asserted.
Independent industry case — not a SANANBIO customer reference.
Stage at source reporting: pilot-opened
In July 2026, PLANTX opened a pilot vertical-farming facility in Tokyo's Koto Ward built around separately sealed growing units. Coverage explained that the modules could manage light, air, water temperature and humidity individually rather than treating the entire room as one cultivation environment. The company also described plans to test automation and ways to reduce resource consumption.
This pilot is useful for discussing modular environmental controls, isolated crop recipes and experimental farm architecture. Its opening does not establish that automation and energy-saving goals were already achieved at commercial scale. The 'first' designation is attributed to the company, not independently validated. No SANANBIO involvement is indicated.
