How Light Intensity and Nutrient EC Interact in Hydroponic Lettuce
Research overview: Researchers studied the combined influence of nutrient-solution electrical conductivity and lighting intensity on butterhead lettuce grown hydroponically. Findings reflect the original experiment rather than SANANBIO product performance.
Researchers studied the combined influence of nutrient-solution electrical conductivity and lighting intensity on butterhead lettuce grown hydroponically. Their experimental design compared two EC bands and three photon flux density conditions, allowing them to examine whether lighting and fertigation decisions interact rather than working independently.
Under the conditions tested, the lower EC range together with the highest tested lighting level produced stronger crop growth and yield than the other combinations. That outcome is specific to the crop, formulation and environmental set-up described in the paper. The broader lesson for designers is to test nutrients and lighting as a combined production recipe. The study does not establish any SANANBIO involvement or make a universal recommendation for every crop.
